Congratulations to the members of the 2024 Region Orchestra

I made it into Region Orchestra!  Now what?

Congratulation on your successful audition.   Here is what you need to do in order to participate in the ensemble!

  1. Look at the dates at the bottom of this website.  Please mark both rehearsal days and the concert on your calendar and make sure that you don't have any conflict
  2. Click on the "FORMS" tab above and fill out the info Google form.   Print off the Emergency Medical From, fill it out, and give it to your director.  They will send it in to me
  3. The participation fee is $65.   This covers the cost of the director, your t-shirt and lunch on Saturday.   
    • If you are the only student attending regional orchestra from your school you may send in the check (payable to OMEA) along with your medical form.
    • If there are multiple students coming from your school your director should collect all the fees and emergency medical forms.   He or she will send in one large check for all students from your program along with all of the medical forms.   You will need to talk to your director to see if you should make your check payable to your music boosters or your school.  Please do not mail your check directly if there are many students attending from your building.

  • Visit the "music and program" page to print off your music.   All bowings should be marked.   There is also a recording available of each piece.  It is extremely valuable to listen to your piece as you begin to practice it so you can get a feel for the character, style, tempo, etc of each piece.

About the Ensemble

The East Central Regional Orchestra is comprised of the best musicians from Richland, Ashland, Morrow, Knox, Delaware, Licking, Holmes, Coshocton, Stark, Columbiana, Tuscarawas, Carroll, Harrision, Jefferson, Muskingum, Guernsey, Belmont, Morgan, Mobile, Monroe, and Washington counties.
Regional Orchestra meets for two rehearsals and one performance.   The first rehearsal will take place on Sunday 10/27 from 3:30-6pm at Olentangy Orange High School.  This rehearsal will serve as a chance for you to meet the other musicians and run through the music.  The second rehearsal will take place on Saturday, November 23rd.  This day will include both sectional time as well as full ensemble rehearsal.  The concert is on the following day, Sunday, November 24th at 2pm at Ashland HS


All students must be enrolled as members of their school's performing ensemble in order to participate in either All State or Regional Orchestra during the 2024-25 academic year (ex. All State band applicants must be members of their school's band, All State choir applicants must be in their school's choir, All-State jazz applicants must be in their school's jazz ensemble, All State orchestra applicants for strings must be in their school's orchestra)  All State orchestra applicants for wind/percussion must be in their school's orchestra or band ensemble.

Home school students may participate if sponsored by their private teacher (must be an OMEA member).  The parent of the home-schooled student will serve as the school administrator.   Students must be enrolled in grades 9-12 for the academic year 2024-2025.  Failure to observe these rules will nullify the student's All-State eligibility. 


    Timeline & Schedule

    March 1: Audition materials are released
    May 31: All audition submissions are due by 11:50pm
    August 31: Notification of results to applicants and directors
    October 15: Registration forms and payments are due
    October 27: First rehearsal at Olentangy Orange High School (3:30-6pm)
    November 23: Rehearsal at Ashland High School (9am-5:00pm, check-in begins at 8:30am)
    November 24: Concert at Ashland High School (12pm run-through/pictures, 2pm concert)
