Why should I participate in Adjudicated Events?
These events serve as assessment opportunities for both you and students. They also serve as motivation for both.
What Are Adjudicated Events
OMEA sanctioned Marching Band Events
Events are held throughout the state - you may apply at your choice of locations.
Solo & Ensemble
Events at both the high school and junior high level - events are held within each district.
District HS Band and Choir Large Group
Events are held in each district. You must attend the event in your own district unless you petition to go out of district by January 1st for High School.
State HS Band and Choir Large Group
Events are held regionally. You must attend the event in your own region unless you petition to go out of region.
State HS Orchestra
High school string and full orchestras have one event, at the state level only, and events are held regionally. You must attend the event in your own region unless you petition to go out of region.
District JH Band, Choir, Orchestra Large Group
Events are held within each district. You must attend the event in your own district unless you petition to go out of district.
Creative Events
Any student in Ohio schools enrolled in grades 1 through 12 whose music teacher (school or private) is a current member of the Ohio Music Education Association is eligible to submit a composition for criticis, and/or rating.

You must be a current member of OMEA. Other rules are covered in the various handbooks available in the Adjudicated Section of the website (after logging in)

How do I know where the Adjudicated Events are held?
Visit the Calendar of Events page to view all the Adjudicated Events for the year. This is located in the QUICK LINKS area of the website menu.
Do I join OMEA or NAfME?
OMEA is an affiliate of NAfME. Therefore, when you join one, you join both. Your membership payment and membership card is processed through NAfME. You make one payment to NAfME and your OMEA allocation is sent to OMEA as well as your membership number and information.
How Do I Join and How Much Does It Cost?

If I Was An OCMEA member, How Do I Switch To a Regular Membership?
The best way to ensure that this is processed correctly and you receive your first-year discount, call NAfME member services to join. Call 1-800-336-3768. You will receive a discount on your first year if you were an OCMEA member.
If I Move, What Do I Do?
At any time any of your personal or professional information changes, log into the website, click the ACCOUNT menu option and choose PROFILE and update your member profile. This ensures that you will receive all materials pertaining to your area of teaching.
How Do I Find OMEA Activities, Meetings, etc?
Click the "Calendar of Events" option under the website menu. It is also essential that your OMEA District is accurate since all emails sent by District and Region officers are sent based upon your OMEA District selection.
How Can I Get Involved?
If you are interested in getting more involved in OMEA, contact your district president and president-elect. All district officer information is located in the Quick Links area of the website. You will need to be logged into the website to use the built in email feature.
What Publications Does OMEA Produce?
TRIAD is the official publication for OMEA and is published three times during the school year - Fall, Winter, and Spring. Often these include special focus issues which are extremely helpful to music educators on a popular topic. TRIAD is one of the two major communication tools for OMEA, the other being the website. The cost of TRIAD is part of your membership.
Contributions to Music Education is a music education research journal with an international circulation.
When Is the Professional Development Conference?
The 2022 OMEA Professional Development Conference will be held on February 3 - February 5, 2022 at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland.

OMEA has a dedicated Conference Website. This site provides the most current data available including information on clinicians, performing ensembles, hotels, exhibitors and so much more!
Why Would I Want To Go?
The OMEA conference offers: three full days of sessions on a wide-variety of topics in all areas of music education concerts by outstanding groups from across Ohio from all grade levels performances by all five OMEA All-State Ensembles a exhibit hall of vendors offering everything you may need for your program, from music to instruments, to fundraisers, to college information, to uniforms, to travel, and on and on. . . an opportunity to earn IHCP credit as well as college credit an opportunity to meet and network with music educators from all over the state.
How Do I Register?
You have three ways to register. You may pre-register online, pre-register via mail or you may register on-site. Registration normally opens in early fall.
