Ohio Music Education Association

Research Help Needed!

This section is devoted to those involved in music education who need feedback and assistance from active music educators. The projects and surveys are often requirements for conference presentations, graduate level courses and dissertations.

Please consider taking a few minutes of time to assist your fellow music educators!
NAfME Research Assistance Program
NAfME provides indirect access to the association’s membership list using their e-mail transmission platform, to allow our members with a legitimate research program or material to reach out and collect additional data points that may be useful to complete ongoing research projects. E-mails are retained by NAfME at all times, and are not distributed to third parties. For more details, contact Mike Blakeslee.

Implications of OTES and SLOs on Music Classroom Instruction for Students with Disabilities

The survey is part of a research project being conducted by Heidelberg University graduate student Holly McConnell under the advisement of Dr. Julie Green. The survey contains questions about teaching students with disabilities in the music classroom and how or if teaching practices have changed since the addition of OTES and SLOs. Specifically, the research project seeks to discover if teachers are setting separate growth targets for students with disabilities, using SLOs to monitor student progress, and if SLOs and OTES are helping music teachers better meet the needs of students. The survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.
